The software of the load balancers (systems for load distribution of client connections to several servers) in the LZR and TRE data centers must be updated.
On Wednesday, 22.02.2023, the devices in the LZR will be upgraded in the period from 9 am to 4 pm. The devices are designed with redundancy, so the upgrade will normally run without service interruption (of the load balancer) because one device is always available. In principle, however, the existing connections to the services behind the load balancer are disconnected in the course of the upgrade during failover to the other device. This may lead to a brief interruption in communication between the clients and the servers of the services behind the load balancer. Usually, the connection is automatically re-established shortly afterwards and there is no lasting disruption.
On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the device will be upgraded in the TRE in the period from 9 am to 1 pm. Since only one device is in use here, communication to servers behind the load balancer will fail temporarily, possibly several times, during the upgrade. In the TRE, redundant services only run to the LZR, so user access to services is not affected.
Barring unexpected disruptions, users will not experience any outages in connected services.
